Hope everyone had a good Thursday.

Show in Louisville was a total bust. No buyers. *sigh*

Etsy show is now having it's sale. 25-35% off most things.

Got some size comparision shots of the bowls... finally. It's something that I've wanted to do for a long time, but I rarely had all the sizes available at once.

Grr. Wholesale/Retail

It's so... bothersome.

I'd much, much rather wholesale. But no one buys enough. Well, truthfully no one buys enough retail-ly either. *shrug*

Anyway, the problem with retailing and wholesaling is that wholesale buyers sometimes won't even buy from you if you retail. And they want you to mark up at least 2.5x, but preferably 3x.

It used to be 2x markup. And then stores needed more money. So the bowl that they buy for $40 is marked up to $100 or more instead of $80 like it used to be.

It makes me really worried about my wholesale prices. Like... that they're not low enough. I mean, they are what they are, but me not being an upscale gallery makes it hard to consistantly sell lookyloos at the paltry artshows I do on a bowl measuring 4.5" x 2" being $54.


In other news... I've started doing some 'basic' bowls. Ones that are just painted, with out any moulded designs on them. They take less time, but still have the fun look.


Also. Everyone should be watching Pushing Daisies. It is super awesome and, like, the best show on TV.

I was almost ready to build an ark.

Even though we live in NW IN, we still got tons of rain from Ike. *sigh* Almost a whole week. And nothing dries and wood can't be cut and forget about paer mache-ing. So behind in work.

Haven't been up to much. Painting birds mostly. For my father.

Also, we have more flowers in the yard. And a possible pumpkin. ...it may be a squash.

And by 'deal with the devil' I mean get your coat.

Here is my set up at the latest show. Usually we have black fabric hung up along the sides, but it was way too hot and windy, so we took our sides off.

I also made a new bowl. This is the first of the large size that I've done without snakes. I'm really liking the duel colors.

In non work related news... the car is broken again. Who knows what's with it this time.

Stargate Atlantis has been cancelled. I'm... not that sad about it.

Psych has been awesome lately. Like the awesome thing that it is.

I wish blogger had a friends page like live journal. Or does it and I'm just blind?

In work related news again... but not totally my work because it doesn't involve bowls or paper mache. Today I spent the whole day cutting out dragonfly wings and priming brids and fish. Sounds fun, huh?

This is the story of America. Everybody's doing what they think they're supposed to do.

Last week I saw a caterpiller... it was large and green. So I took a picture of it. And some flowers.

Here's a picture of a bowl in progress. It's drying out in the sun. It will have ten snakes going around the outside.

I wish it didn't rain so much around here. It's practcally impossible to get things to dry.

In other news... Robin Hood was as expected. But I totally hate the fans for reacting the way they did. Marian caused it herself... honestly, it's like jabbing a mentally unbalanced dog with a big stick.

Doctor Who was just... Oh, I'm still crushed by it. Why RTD? Why be so cruel?

But Psych was really good. I love when they can be serious.

Geesh! Three entries in and I'm already neglecting this blog.

Let us go back then, shall we? Back to... the beginning!

This is one of the first bowls I made... way back in the middle of '05. Somehow over the years I feel as though my snakes have become... well, let's say 'cute' for lack of a better word. I like how the early ones looked. Maybe it's the far apart eyes. Anyway, the first bowls only came in two sizes, which are now the medium size bowls. And they had teeth. (my fathers suggestion.) And nose holes... I don't know where those went. But the rest is basically the same.

Here's a more recent bowl, from '07. I have been trying to go back to the flatter heads, they'll be aound in the next batch of bowls. I'm not really sure how I feel about the more rounded, fatter heads. They're okay, but maybe a bit too cartoon-ish.

Back when I started I also made a few fish bowls. They were never really what I wanted, so only around five were made. Collectors item!

Let's so... what else has been going on? Robin Hood had one awesome episode and one that was very disapointing. Hopefully the finale will be awesome.

Doctor Who has been fantastic. Can't wait for Friday to see the conclusion of that finale!

And Psych is back! Yay!

Nope, no Blackulas.

I love Dr. O and the Triad. They make any episode way better.

The yahoo list that I'm on for SGA disliked Chelsea Handler's interview with Joe Flanigan. Now, I like Chelsea Handler. And I sort of dislike The Flan... so I thought their comments about how she's so raunchy and made poor ittle Joe uncomfortable to be rather rude.

Also rather rude: The person at the BMV. Had to get another learners permit... and they took away my photo ID! How rude! Apparently it is now illegal to have two forms of ID in IN. Suckage. I really liked that photo ID... and it didn't expire until 2012. What a waste of money.

I hate my dial up connection. Ergh! It fails me when I need it the most. Like watching Joss's newest awesome creation. I mean, NPH and Joss Wheadon? That's like chocolate and peanut butter all over again. *sigh*

Life has been woefully uneventful. Except for all the car drama. Thought we'd get it fixed today. Didn't. *sigh*


I don't think Robin Hood has ever been so romantic. Ships ahoy, y'all! Guy/Marian, obviously. But Guy/Allen... so hot. Robin/Much... so angsty. Guy/Sheriff... so wrong. Yet so good!


Also... firecrackers down the pants. Oh, Metalocalypse... you're brilliant. And a bit sad. Poor Toki.

I always thought Sofie's Choice was about abortion.

Apparently it's not.

Also, I just watched Interview With A Vampire for the first time. It was good. But, damn. Tom Cruise just wouldn't go away. Kinda like in RL.

OMG, DW was SO AWESOME! Yes, all caps awesome. The banging, and the copying, and the simultanious talking. Whee! I vote it as one of the best of New Who. And next week is Rose. It's so hard not seeing spoilers for the final 3 eps. Ergh!

SGA was pretty okay. Yay for certain things. Boo for other, more cliched, things. You know the ones.

We're finally mobile. Got the car registered and new plates... probably bounced a check to do it. But, oh well.
